This is a place for Ambient Music lovers to get together and share music with one another. This is not to be construed as a piracy network, rather, as a place to learn about new (and sometimes obscure) ambient music. Support the artists, people.
Rules: (original draft for these rules from the rules at gothmusicshare, used with permission given by woundedllama.) 1) All posts must contain a song or a link to songs. The easiest way to do this is to upload a song on a site like Savefile, Rapidshare, or your own server. Sites like those do delete your file after 25 uploads or 7 days and it will be up to you whether or not you upload the song for us again. Post the new link in the same post. Note: On a high speed connection this takes about 5 minutes. 2) Yes, you can promote your band, as long as you provide us a way to listen to your music online. 3) This is not a place to post club flyers or set lists (unless you're going to give us every song on the set list :P.) 4) No promoting other communities unless you're approved by one of the mods (pandable.) 5) Post whatever you want, so long as its ambient in nature. Obscure music is great, but there's nothing wrong with posting something you'd think most people have heard. There's always someone who hasn't. 6) MP3, WMA, and OGG formats only. Zip and rar files are okay if you're sharing a whole album. Videos and live performances are also ok. 8) Your post should give us this information: Artist: Song Title: Album Song is From: Year:
Post as much as you want.
Song & Album Requests: If you would like to make a request, please email pandable here. DO NOT post your requests in the community, they will be deleted. Every week I will post the requests that I get in on Friday. This entry will be listed as the community's website. Please reply once you've filled a request, telling us which requests you've filled.
WHAT TO POST:
- Any "traditional" ambient music. - Drone-oriented music. - Ambient subgenres - dark ambient, psychedelic ambient, ambient noise, etc. - Noise that isn't explicitly ambient, but isn't harsh. - Dub techno (Basic Channel and the like.) - Chilled IDM. - Musique Concrete. - "Death" "Industrial", ala the Cold Meat Industry lable and related projects. - anything closely related to the ambient scene. Use your own judgement.
WHAT NOT TO POST: Although straying a bit from true ambient music is allowed, don't overdo it. Something is not ambient just because it differs from the norm. So... refrain from the following things:
- Harsh noise. For example, some Merzbow releases (such as Sleeper Awakes On The Edge of the Abyss) are acceptable, but not the really harsh ones (no Venereology.) Use this as your reference point. - Post-rock. No GYBE, Sigur Ros, EITS, the like. - Neo-folk. As much as I personally love neo-folk, it just isn't ambient. If a neo-folk artist has an ambient release though, feel free to post it. - Drill 'n bass and related genres of harsh IDM. It's hard to draw a fine line between what constites ambient IDM and non-ambient IDM, but please use your best judgement.
And most importantly: If you download something and like it, please support the artist and buy their music.
Breaking these rules will get your post deleted. Breaking the rules more than once will get you banned. :3
